Iphigenia in Aulis opens at Playhouse on Dec. 1

The Main Street Players (MSP) present Iphigenia in Aulis, the first show of the theatre group’s 2017/2018 season and the second production performed in Spanish. Iphigenia in Aulis runs December 1-17, at the Main Street Playhouse, 6766 Main Street, with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

The talented cast and crew have worked tirelessly, putting in many hours to bring the show to life. MSP has a reputation of producing quality shows in English, and is proud to be equally adept at producing shows in Spanish.

The Greeks have assembled their army at the port of Aulis in a battle against Troy. However, the ships cannot set sail unless King Agamemnon, commander of the army, sacrifices his eldest daughter, Iphigenia, to the goddess Artemis.

Iphigenia is brought into the port under the false pretense that she is to marry decorated fighter Achilles, but she, her mother, and the ostensible groom-to-be will soon discover the truth. The show is directed by Isaac Polanco, with Daniel Nieves as the production manager.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for students, seniors, and military personnel. Theatre League members $20 with I.D. at the door only. Use the promotion code EARLY BIRD to get a discount. Promotion code valid until December 1, 2017.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at www.mainstreetplayers.com, or at the box office 60 minutes prior to showtime. For more information contact Patty Fernandez at 786-344-7551.
