Six students from Monsignor Edward Pace High School will be running in the FHSAA Cross Country State Championships in Tallahassee on November 7.

Pace seniors Joshua Clethen, Alvin McCray, and Darious White, juniors Omar Padilla and Matthew Figueroa, and freshman Julian Becarra all qualified for the state championships following their performances at the FHSAA Cross Country Regional Championship on October 29.

Clethen placed fourth overall in the entire race and Becarra had his best race of the year to help push the team to state competition. Coach Jarell Griffin credits his team’s hard work and dedication for their success.

“They know what they want and they work like champions,” said Griffin. They give you at least a 200 percent effort every mile they run.”
