“Spain is closer than you think” reads the 100 Montaditos website, and for the residents and visitors of Miami Lakes, the phrase rings true now that the Spanish cuisine restaurant at 6803 Main Street will open in early July.
During the first opening week the store will offer one free montadito per person, from a selected menu. For updates follow 100 Montaditos on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Hours for the store are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Wednesdays and weekends are from 11 a.m. to midnight.
A montadito, famous in Spain, is a tapa-sized roll of bread with quality ingredients, many of which are directly imported from Spain, mounted on top such as meats, cheeses, sauces, fresh tomatoes and more. In addition to the 100 montadito options at the aptly named “100 Montaditos” there are also salads, fries, meat and cheese platters, appetizers and desserts.
Ignacio Garcia, managing director of 100 Montaditos and David Gallardo, director of Marketing, Communication and Operations in the United States, were both pleased to find a location that fit the needs of the 100 Montaditos franchise.
"Miami Lakes meets all the requirements for us," said Garcia. "There is great visibility, a beautiful outdoor shopping area and a good community to set up 100 Montaditos."
The new Miami Lakes location is the first U.S. location to open with a redesigned menu that has updated the original options with more ingredients and the introduction Spanish desserts such as Tarta de Santiago, churros, and Crema Catalana. Additionally, beverage options include soft drinks, Sangria and an assortment of new beer options including Budweiser, Yeungling, Samuel Adams, Corona and Alhambra. The Miami Lakes location also offers catering and plans to open online ordering at a later date.
A discount deal occurs every Wednesday, which features select montaditos for only $1, and every Sunday which offers the second order platter at half price.
The store’s best selling montadito, #81, topped with serrano ham, mozzarella, tomato, and pesto may find some competition with the store’s newly added “Mighty Montaditos” which are twice the size of regular montaditos.
