Registration is now open for the 2018 session of the Main Street Players’ Children’s Theatre Workshop at the Main Street Playhouse located at 6766 Main Street. This year, one session will be held for children from 7 to 13 years of age from Monday, June 11 through Friday, June 29.
The three-week workshop will be taught by Jeannette Martos-Galup. Students will develop their performance skills, learn the value of working as an ensemble and will, most importantly, have fun. During the first week, students will be working on writing and acting in their own original plays, puppet making through character development, the history of masks in theatre and construction of masks, scenic painting and of course acting.
Daily classes and rehearsals will be filled with movement, acting and exploration through the imagination as the students come together to perform a spectacular final performance of “The Lion King” for kids for their families on the final Friday of the session.
Classes run Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be limited to 20 students. The cost for the three week workshop is $625 per student with a ten percent discount available to returning students from the 2017 workshop who register before the open registration deadline of April 1.
