Brigadeiros Boutique should post a warning to customers: Enjoying their sinfully good, handmade fine chocolates and cakes will require a confession to one’s personal trainer.
The shop on Main Street
brings a taste of Brazil to Miami Lakes. It is named for the traditional dessert that is served at family gatherings and holiday celebrations.
The store uses Belgian chocolate, condensed milk and other flavors like salted caramel, fruits and nuts.
The resulting small rolled balls of delight are not truffles or fudge, they’re even better.
The family business began when Janete Pedro made brigadeiros for her daughter’s wedding.
Demand grew for her desserts and on Dec. 17, the family opened their first store.
Pedro never expected her hobby to become a business.
“This was my dream, to have a beautiful sweets store,” Pedro said in
Portuguese. “It’s a dream come true and God has blessed me with the opportunity to turn my dream into a reality.”
She and her husband
Antonio Pedro and their family once lived in Miami Lakes, and when the opportunity presented itself to have a store in town, they knew it was the perfect place.
Brigadeiros Boutique also sells mini triple-layer cakes, with flavors such as dulce de leche, coconut and white chocolate.
Beer and wine are also sold.
The store will cater any kind of event, and will also decorate a party setting and coordinate the treats to the themes and colors chosen by the customer.
Those who visit the shop will be greeted by Yohana Hoeschele, the Pedro’s daughter, and her husband Justin Hoeschele.
Sometimes their baby is in the shop, too. It’s a family affair.
Though the store has not yet celebrated its grand opening, Mayor Manny Cid has already stopped by. And who can blame him?
