Advertiser Spotlight: Duke and Dutchess Pet Center

Business By Megan Jacobo, Reporter Thursday, July 1, 2021

The Duke and Dutchess Pet Center grooms animals --mainly cats, dogs, ferrets, hamsters and rabbits – and has tended to Miami Lakers’ pets for 44 years.

The late Peggy Rosenson founded the
pet care company in the Cypress Village Shopping Center.

Lori Wetzel bought the business in 1995.

Rosenson’s daughter Randi Rosenson works with Wetzel as a groomer. They call themselves the dynamic duo.

“We have so many clients that have been here for so long, we are now seeing the second and third generations,” Lori Wetzel said.

“Since COVID-19, we got a lot of newbies.

“Apparently, everyone got a new pet during this time, so we have been very fortunate to see newcomers,” she said.

Wetzel says of owning a business in town, “I love it. We’re a family, and we take care of families’ pets. “Once you come in here, you’re not leaving.
“The community drew us in, the small-town feel,” she said.

For four decades, The Duke and Dutchess Pet Center has advertised in The Miami Laker.

“I feel like I have
that relationship with the paper,” Wetzel said. “It’s always been a constant, it’s the only advertising we really do and it’s worked really well for us.”
