The first adult day care center is coming to the Town of Miami Lakes thanks to Vice Mayor Manny Cid and the family of the town’s first vice mayor Roberto Alonso.
Always At Your Side Adult Day Care, Inc. is inviting the entire community to the facility’s grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, March 8, starting at 10 a.m. at the Lake Patricia Shopping Center, 13965-67 N.W. 67 Avenue.
The company’s staff will provide tours and meet with families to understand their needs.
The center offers valuable services for senior citizens living in Miami Lakes and the northwest Miami-Dade Community.
Last year, Roberto and Alexandra Alonso met with Cid about exploring ways to help senior citizens, and the good friends decided on opening up an adult day care facility in the area.
The center provides the elderly with such services as assistance with eating, taking medication, counseling, educational programs and mental stimulation, exercise programs, health monitoring, therapy and social activities.
They also can participate in arts and crafts, cooking, games, taking field trips and planting gardens.
The center will also be among a few in South Florida licensed to care for Alzheimer patients.
The facility is staffed with qualified personnel who love to work with seniors, including medical personnel.
Alexandra Alonso, who has 15 years of healthcare experience and earned a Master’s Degree in health care administration from Florida International University, took a leap of faith by leaving her job in the managed healthcare field to open the day care.
"My dream has always been to open a facility in the Town of Miami Lakes that would give back to this beautiful community," said Alonso, the facility’s president. "Our Center will provide a much needed service to Miami Lakes and the northwest Miami-Dade region; the goal is to improve our patients’ quality of life while providing caregivers much-needed peace of mind while at work."
Their business partner, Cid, is excited to join forces with his friends.
"I'm ecstatic to be part of South Florida's premier adult day care," said Cid, who is the company’s vice president. "This is a locally owned and family operated business in the heart of Miami Lakes."
The center opens from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
