Miami Lakes-based BankUnited is offering women business owners an opportunity to grow their enterprises with a $10,000 prize.

Firms based in Florida or New York which are at least 51 percent owned by women are eligible for the “elevator pitch” contest.

Business owners must complete an application and submit a video pitch, which is up to three minutes long, by Sept. 23.

Entry forms and rules for the inaugural BankUnited “Small Business, Big Dreams” Women in Business Challenge may be found at https://bit.ly/3tExdVh.

“As champions of small business, we at BankUnited know that small businesses are the heart and backbone of any community,” Lisa Shim, BankUnited executive vice president, head of consumer and small business banking, said in a statement from the bank.

It hopes to “elevate women business owners by recognizing their contributions and providing them with tools to turn their dreams into reality,” she said.

After the online application process, four finalists will be selected and required to attend the BankUnited "Small Business, Big Dreams" Women in Business Summit on Wednesday, Oct. 27 in Fort Lauderdale. There they'll have an opportunity to present their companies before a panel of judges who will select the winner.
