BankUnited names new executive

BankUnited has announced the retirement of Walter Shields, who was executive vice president and director of credit review.

     The same day, the bank named Shields’ successor, Kelly Taub who began working for the bank that is based in Miami Lakes on Jan. 14, the company said in a press release.

     BankUnited Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Rajinder P. Singh said Shields was “highly regarded in the industry and an expert in credit risk management” and was someone who made “invaluable contributions to our bank in a critically important area.”

     Taub, shown in the photo at left, has two decades of experience in the field and will have the same title as her predecessor.

    Her responsibilities will include evaluating and monitoring the bank’s credit risk exposure and making recommendations to

BankUnited’s management and board of directors.

    Singh called Taub “...a seasoned industry leader with a wealth of experience in credit risk management...”

     Taub previously worked at Capital One, N.A., Regions Financial Corporation, Bank of America and as a national bank examiner for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
