The beloved and local ice cream shop, Ben and Jerry’s, known for their commitment to community projects and fundraisers, participated in the Town of Miami Lakes Youth Center grand opening event on November 21.

The shop served free ice cream to all those who attended and donated an oak tree for the park. A tree planting ceremony was held with the mayor and some of the council members. Additionally the shop donated a full entertainment center for the kids to enjoy at the new youth center, which included a large T.V., sound system, a five-year subscription to xbox live gaming, Wii console and games, and a five year subscription to Netflix.

The Ben and Jerry shop owners, Marcela and Ivan Kozupytsya, were both present at the event and can add their latest charitable donations to their growing list of giving, which previously include funding campaigns for local schools, involvement in the Youth Activities Task Force Committee for Miami Lakes, and recognition in the form of an Appreciation Award by Senator Bob Graham for contributions and fundraising for Bob Graham Education Center.

Ben and Jerry’s is located at 15484 N.W. 77 Court in the Royal Oaks Plaza.
