June 8 Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce luncheon, Guest speaker and Miami Laker Christopher Norwood is an attorney, founder of Hampton Art Lovers gallery in Overtown and serves on boards related to art and education. June 9 Senior Bingo Luncheon. Join the Elderly Affairs Committee at the free monthly bingo luncheon at Roberto Alonso Community Center, 16500 NW 87 Ave. There will be food, mingling and fun; tickets available until June 7, so register early. 11 a.m.  

June 14 Business Networking Social, Cruzeiro Brazilian Steakhouse, 7419 Miami Lakes Drive. Presented by the Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce, BNI Excellence, the Economic Development Committee and the Town of Miami Lakes. June 18 Father’s Day Fishing Tournament at Graham Dairy Lake. The annual tournament presented by the Town of Miami Lakes and the Cultural Affairs Committee. A free event for dads and kids at Graham Dairy Lake, 8100 Govenors Square Blvd. Residents will be given live bait, but must have their own fishing gear and a valid freshwater fishing license for anglers aged 16 to 64.  8 a.m.

June 18 Juneteenth Celebration To observe the end of slavery, also known as Emancipation Day, the Miami Lakes Cultural Affairs Committee will present readings; keynote speaker is Jihad "JS" Rashid, president and chief executive officer of SECTOR Public Private Partners, Inc. who advises developers and governments; and a music performance by Michael Kennedy. Light refreshments will be served. Free. 4 p.m., Miami Lakes Town Hall, 6601 Main St.

June 25  2nd Annual Pride Awareness Booth, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., at the Farmer’s Market, New Barn Road at Main Street, in Miami Lakes. Volunteers will distribute information on resources available for individuals and families in the LGBTQ community.
