Dade County Bar Association honors M-Dade College's Eduardo J. Padron

The Dade County Bar Association recently honored Miami-Dade College President Dr. Eduardo J. Padron at its 100-year celebration gala for his contributions to enriching the Miami community and the catalyst for shaping the institution among the best in the United States.

The event was held on Saturday, June 4, at the JW Marriott in Brickell, where other dignitaries were recognized on the same night.

The Association also honored Richard Fain, chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises; NBA Hall of Famer and former Miami Heat star Alonso Mourning; Grammy award-winning recording artist Jon Secada; U.S. Congresswoman and MDC Alumna Illeana Ros-Lehtinen; and historian and author Arva Moore Parks McCabe.

Padron became MDC president in 1995 and is credited with elevating the college into a position of national prominence among the best and most recognized U.S. colleges and universities.

“I am honored to be recognized by the prestigious Dade County Bar Association and proud to say MDC is committed to prepare future leaders who will make a difference in our world,” said Padron.

During his more than four decade career at MDC, Pardon has been selected to serve on posts of national prominence by six American presidents.

He currently chairs the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.
