Elderly Affairs Committee plans October activities for seniors

 

Miami Lakes Elderly Affairs Committee (EAC) has scheduled several events for seniors during October.

Tuesday, October 9 – Mount Sinai Lecture Series. “What You Need to Know About Breast Cancer” will be presented by Dr. Sumana Narayanan at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9, at Town Hall, 6601 Main Street.

A light lunch will be served courtesy of Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Wednesday, October 17 – Free Field Trip to Frost Science Museum. The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science is a leading science museum dedicated to sharing the power of science, sparking wonder and investigation, and fueling innovations for the future.

Located in Downtown Miami’s waterfront Museum Park, the facility is divided into four buildings including the Frost Planetarium, Aquarium, and North and West wings. Guests can learn about the core science behind living systems, the solar system and known universe, the physics of flight, light and lasers, the biology of the human body and mind, and much more.

The field trip is for seniors, age 62 and up. The bus will depart at 10 a.m. from Miami Lakes Optimist Clubhouse at 6411 N.W. 162 Street. Seating is limited and reservations are required at www.toml.eventbrite.com. Reservations are now open and will close at noon on Tuesday, October 16.
