Dr. Nury Zurbano started practicing dentistry in Hialeah in 1978, but moved to the Town of Miami Lakes two decades ago to continue her passion.
Zurbano married her husband in 1979 at Our Lady of the Lakes. Dr. Victor Christoph had met Zurbano while practicing in the late 70’s on Lincoln Road at Miami Beach.
Fast forward to 2018, they both own and operate their own practice, Family Dentistry and Orthodontics of Miami Lakes located in the Cypress Village Professional Building at 7480 Fairway Drive, Suite 103.
In addition to the husbandwife team, their daughter Dr. Kristina Marie Christoph recently joined the practice after her residency in Dallas.
The family of dentists have roots all throughout Miami Lakes. Which is why, after eight years of being apart from her family and the town, the youngest Christoph decided to come back home.
“It’s wonderful to be back in the town that I hold near and dear to my heart,” Christoph said. “I have many childhood memories in Miami Lakes, like going to see movies in the summer at Main Street, then eating at Johnny Rockets, going trickor- treating at Main Street, shopping for the holidays….I also love the family-oriented, small town feel of Miami Lakes.”
The Council of Scientific Affairs (COSA) of the American Association of Orthodontists recently awarded Christoph the Thomas M. Graber Award of Special Merit on May 6 at the annual meeting hosted in Washington D.C.
The award is only given to four orthodontists each year from all around the country. The award was given to Christoph for her research in understanding better methods to improve the bone’s response to tooth movement.
“This award embodies our practice’s mission,” explained Christoph. “To provide our patients with the latest, highest standard of treatment based on sound research evidence. We strive to provide our patients with the very best care possible, and this requires either staying current or participating in the latest research.”
In addition to being a Dade Christian alum and operating a business in Miami Lakes, Christoph and her family also participate in local events.
They’ve served as sponsors for the Our Lady of the Lakes Spring Festival as well as the Miami Lakes Spring Fling.
