Kick off the holiday season with two great holiday traditions: the 35th Annual Main Street Festival of Lights in Miami Lakes, and Small Business Saturday.
Both events happen during the same weekend after Thanksgiving, on Saturday, Nov. 30.
That’s when lights will brighten two blocks of Main Street in downtown Miami Lakes, which will be transformed when the famous oak tree glows against the night sky.
“We may not have the extremely cold temperatures and snow like up north, but when Main Street is lit up, the magic of a winter wonderland can be felt with the twinkle of every light,” said Andrea Graham Rechichi, vice president of corporate and customer relations for The Graham Companies.
Radio Personality GiGi Diaz from 93.9 MIA will be master of ceremonies.
Santa Claus will appear, and there will also be a DJ, photo stations and arts and crafts.
Boy Scout Troop 247 will raise funds from sales of children’s photos at the Santa House.
And Miami-Dade County Animal Services will be offering pet adoptions.
Those who arrive early can stroll Main Street and get a jump on holiday shopping lists while supporting local retailers and restaurants.
The Graham Companies is sponsoring the festivities, along with Main Street merchants; Publix Super Markets and HDS Companies.
Media Partners include The Miami Laker; The Miami Herald; El Nuevo Herald and 93.9 MIA.
