FIU offers free help for struggling businesses

The Florida Small Business Development Center at Florida International University is offering free guidance to companies seeking access to disaster capital that is being offered by the state and federal governments.
More than 82,000 small businesses employ 53.3 percent of people working in Miami-Dade County, the school said a recent study found.
FIU’s consultants will help firms affected by the coronavirus apply for the Paycheck Protection
Program, U.S. SBA
Economic Injury
Disaster Loan and the
Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan.
FIU’s consultants will explain eligibility requirements; assist with applications, stay with them through the review process and help them get funds, said Brian Van Hook, regional director of the FSBDC.
“We help business owners navigate the ‘alphabet soup,’” Van Hook said in a press statement.
