Miami Lakes town hall will be bathed in purple light on Nov. 21 to mark Give Miami Day.
The 24-hour event is hosted by The Miami Foundation, which accepts donations for hundreds of non-profit organizations that serve the region.
The campaign allows donors to support their favorite causes. The minimum gift is $25, and the foundation will accept credit cards, as well as debit and gift cards.
Entering local zip codes on the foundation’s website will bring up varied groups that mentor youth; promote awareness and support for autism; provide healthcare in minority communities; work to prevent teen suicide and pregnancy; teach religious education; perform music and provide hospice care.
The town is hoping donors give to the Miami Lakes Town Foundation, which supports education and literacy.
The Main Street Players are also participating. For 45 years they’ve presented theater to audiences in South Florida.
