HOA law firm offers free seminars

Mirza Basulto & Robbins, LLP (MBR) is a Miami-Dade County homeowners association law firm located at 14160 N.W. 77 Court, Suite 22, in Miami Lakes. The attorneys and staff at MBR are focused on helping communities through the best representation possible and free instruction on community topics.

MBR offers courses intended to educate community members and association clients about the best practices in condominiums and homeowners associations (HOA). Licenses and certifications can be earned through seminars.

These seminars are held every month and are certified by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations (DBPR) on community association living. Seminars are open to the public and done as a community service. Complimentary seminars offered are on topics such as Annual Meetings and Elections, Board Certification, People, Pets and Parking, Do's and Don'ts of Budgeting and Reporting, and Time Management.

On November 16, MBR is holding a Board Certification seminar from noon to 2 p.m., and seminars on People, Pets, and Parking and Time Management, all of which are located at the University of Miami Newman Alumni Center. The People, Pets and Parking seminar is from 9 to 11 a.m. and again at 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. The Time Management seminar is at noon.

Attendees will learn about statutory demand letters, liens, foreclosures, expediting bank foreclosures and the time frames involved for the Board Certification seminar. Attendees for the Time Management seminar will gain an understanding on preparing budgets, operating and maintaining reserves, collections, foreclosures, insurance policies, prioritizing time, and how to conduct and notice an election among other topics.

All seminars are complimentary unless noted otherwise. Complimentary refreshments, breakfast for the morning seminars and lunch for the noon seminars are available for attendees.

Seminars are considered continuing education credits and are available to Licensed Condominium and Homeowners Association Managers (LCAMs) upon request. Other courses are available for LCAMs and Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) through MBR. Courses available contain topics such as human resources, legal updates, association collection strategies, fundamentals of insurance, and accounting policies.
