Lumina Massage offers workplace massages for employee wellness

Lumina Massage, a massage company owned by Michelle Orchid Rodriguez, is a staple of the health-conscious community of Miami Lakes and now Rodriguez is expanding to offer her services for employee wellness.

The mission for this new service is to help entrepreneurs establish a healthier workplace. Education is a tenant of Rodriguez’s work with Lumina Massage, as it is essential to understand the body for a holistic approach to massage therapy.

“I educate the employer and employees that massage therapy is not just an enjoyable perk, but this is specifically for wellness and health,” said Rodriguez. “The workplace has a huge influence on the life of employees so employers who highlight wellness can really improve their employees health. Also, studies show that employees who are taken care of by their company in this way are more likely to stay in that position much longer. So it’s a retention strategy but it’s truly beneficial for everyone.”

0002000005D7000004095D1,Services for massage therapy in the workplace aren’t new, as many companies have opted to focus on employee health, particularly Fortune 500 companies such as Google to offer an array of services to their employees. However, in the small town of Miami Lakes, Lumina Massage’s workplace wellness is innovative.

Though companies like Google can afford to offer their employees extensive workplace perks, many start-ups and small business owners like those in Miami Lakes who are often residents with a passion, just like Rodriguez, typically can’t afford such costly benefits. For small to mid-size businesses, Lumina Massage is a boon.

Lumina Massage began its first workplace wellness engagement at First Origin Mortgage Lenders in Miami Lakes.

“The owner, Ray Palacios, is a believer in implementing health and wellness into his own life and wanted to contribute to his employees,” said Rodriguez.

Rodriguez also visited Paramount Engineering, another Miami Lakes business, in January when owner Cesar Soto hired Lumina Massage for a four hour shift for 16 employees. For Valentine’s Day, Rodriguez massaged the staff at FemLife in Pembroke Pines.
