Abel Fernandez, Miami-Dade County Chief Fire Officer of the 14th Battalion for Miami Lakes West fire station, will be the guest speaker at the Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce monthly membership meeting.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, June 8 with networking at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch at 12 noon.
Fernandez oversees the 14th Battalion on the B-shift in the Town of Miami Lakes.
The topic for his luncheon appearance is “Keeping Your Brand Safe for Your Customers and Clients.”
Over the years, he has risen in the ranks from firefighter to Lieutenant, Captain and now as a Chief Fire Officer.
During his almost two decades of service, he has also served as the Fire Department’s Chief of Safety and the Logistical Services Officer-in-Charge.
Fernandez holds multiple Bachelor degrees in fire administration and fire science. He is a paramedic and a state of Florida Certified Hazardous Material Technician. He has also been certified as a fire department safety officer and an instructor for fire courses.
Over the years, Fernandez has been part of the staff that was responsible for implementation of the Fire Boat Program, and the Hazardous Materials Toxicology Medic program.
Some of his notable accomplishments were acknowledged by Fire House Magazine, as a Bronze Medal of Valor recipient, Baskin and Robbins America’s top 31 firefighters and the Florida Fire Chief’s EMS Rescuer of the year.
Fernandez is also a resident of Miami Lakes and enjoys living and working within the vibrant community.
