Educator, author and blogger Hector Suco is the guest speaker for the Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce monthly membership meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, July 13 at Don Shula’s Hotel.
Networking starts at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch at 12 noon.
Suco is a Miami native who has worked as an educator for Miami-Dade Public Schools for years. Throughout his career, Suco has been asked by his students a wide range of questions.
After answering one particular question, a student dubbed him, “The Life Teacher” and the name stuck with him.
Hector started his blog, TheLifeTeacher.net, in 2014 and has since created worksheets that help people step out of their existence, see their problems from the outside, and start putting their lives in order.
Suco compiled his worksheets into his first published book, titled “Life Worksheets.”
Among the range of topics that Suco talks about is happiness.
He said too many times, people see their work as a means to an end. They say to themselves, “I need to go to work in order to enjoy the things that make me happy.”
Happiness of workers is paramount to the success of a business, Suco said.
“Unhappy workers lead to a lack of productivity that equates to a loss of thousand of dollars a year. Business leaders need to understand that their employees come first,” he said.
As a teacher, Suco has worked in five schools, under six different superiors.
He experienced first hand the difference of leaders and their styles. Specifically, under which leaders made the process more enjoyable, and which did not. He plans to share his experiences with business leaders in Miami Lakes.
Members and guests must reserve a table by 2 p.m., Friday, July 8. For more information on this or any other Miami Lakes Chamber event, contact Marta Diaz at 305-556-2212 or email mdiaz@miamilakeschamber.com.
