M. Lakes cousins launch T-Rex Web startup

T-Rex Web, a Miami Lakes-based internet marketing company, has a slogan that reads: “T-Rex is ancient. Your business is not.” The words unfurl under a bright green origami T-Rex, and in this simple, yet eye-catching design, lies the heart of Andrew Bonilla’s and Daniel Rodriguez’s start-up company.

Using a long extinct dinosaur fashioned out of a paper art that originated in the 15th century would seem like a risky image to associate with a forward-thinking and innovative company for most, but Bonilla said he liked how something considered ancient could be made into a sleek and memorable design. He considers the image his way of showing that T-Rex Web could transport anything to the 21st century with ease.

“There is no client to small or too big for T-Rex Web,” said Bonilla. “We can give any business a facelift for their online presence and create success for them. This is what sets us apart. We care about our client’s success because a client’s success is our own.”

For T-Rex Web, work with clients usually begins with the development of a website and web presence. However, the business partners considers themselves more of a jack of all trades related to internet marketing as reflected by their varied work. They have not only designed websites, but also branded companies, set up marketing campaigns, generated traffic to both websites and social media platforms, created online content with search engine optimization in mind, and produced high-quality photography and videography captured on state-of-the-art drones. For Bonilla and Rodriguez, this is only the beginning.

T-Rex Web incorporated in 2014 and recently celebrated its first anniversary. Despite the short time since its inception, T-Rex Web has amassed a loyal client base and has found a niche in real estate marketing and web design including drone-captured photography of aerial views across serene oceans.

Rodriguez, a former aviation technician in the military, had returned home following three years abroad and found himself adrift while he studied Liberal Arts and worked at a restaurant. When Rodriguez’s cousin, Bonilla, suggested they launch an internet marketing company together, Rodriguez quit his job the next day. Bonilla had just enough funds from his time as a musician and DJ to incorporate the business and pay for start-up costs. Since then T-Rex web has worked with a number of companies locally and abroad to deliver the best in internet marketing.

“We work with so many different types of clients to establish the best foundation and continued maintenance for success,” said Bonilla.

Rodriguez and Bonilla, both in their mid-twenties, only momentarily showed their age amidst the focused industry shop talk when asked about why they selected Miami Lakes for the home of their growing business.

“The views,” said Rodriguez simply. “This window right here, overlooking the park, is a big reason why we chose Miami Lakes.”

“And the cows,” interjected Bonilla. “Mostly the cows,” they laughed in unison.

“Truly, we chose Miami Lakes because it’s our home,” said Bonilla. “We were raised here, went to school here, we know this area like the back of our hands and what better place to start than here?”
