Miami Lakes Bar Association hosts educational lunches in April and May

Community Wednesday, May 14, 2014

The Miami Lakes Bar Association (MLBA) will be providing its members another educational luncheon, much like the association event held in late April, at Don Shula’s Hotel on Friday, May 16, and will feature Alex Diaz, an attorney at Klein Glasser, who grew up in Miami Lakes. Diaz will educate association members on how to avoid civil and ethical exposure. Continuing Legal Education credit will be provided for this luncheon.

In late April, MLBA offered an informative luncheon at Don Shula’s Hotel for members of the association. Haydee S. Sera, a longtime Miami Lakes resident and attorney at Gastesi & Associates, P.A., together with Damaris Pereira, a town resident and attorney at The Elias Law Firm, PLLC, coordinated the appearance of Vanessa Abreu, Esquire, Luke G. Sherlock III, and Lazaro Solis as speakers on highly controversial real estate matters.

Abreu, a town resident and attorney at Fidelity National Law Group provided the members in attendance an educational presentation on recurring real estate claims for fraud, forgery, quieting title, homestead and judgments, among others.

Sherlock, an attorney and former town resident, presented the members with comprehensive materials regarding FIRPTA (Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act of 1980) in commercial transactions and how to assist foreign clients with tax matters involving the sale of real property.

Solis, the Miami-Dade Property Appraiser, provided essential information regarding the highly-visited property appraiser’s website, exemptions, and assessments of real property. All qualifying members received  continuing Legal Education credit and lunch.
