The Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce’s next guest speaker will be Jorge Arrizurieta, president of Americano Media.
Arrizurieta’s company runs a Spanish-language news website and app. He’ll speak Oct. 12 at Miami Lakes Hotel on Main, 6842 Main St. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m.
The business group’s speaker on Sept. 14 was Lazaro Solis, assistant property appraiser for Miami-Dade County, who was appointed to the job in 2009.
He discussed the functions of the office, how it does not levy taxes and how it assesses property taxes based on fair market value. He also explained how the school district, municipalities and county government set tax rates.
The chamber and the Town of Miami Lakes are hosting the 22nd Annual Networking Business Expo on Nov. 3, also at the Miami Lakes Hotel on Main.
It is free and open to the public.
