Miami Lakes Chevrolet recently donated a check in the amount of $500 to the Optimist Club of Miami Lakes, as part of partnership which is in its seventh year.
The funds will help the organization’s baseball and softball programs, and the dealership also donated sports equipment for the players.
The Optimist Club will receive an additional $500 through the dealership’s test drive program this year, said Chevrolet general manager Alex Oharriz.
“The youth in our community is important,” Oharriz said. “The programs keep them busy. We are proud of our partnership with the Optimist Club.”
Jim Hamilton, a longtime member of the Optimist Club, said the organization is grateful for the donation, which keeps the programs running each year.
“Without their continued support, we wouldn’t be able to get both programs going,” Hamilton said. “We appreciate the type of support and the equipment for baseball and softball..”
