From Lake Katharine to Main Street, 171 riders on bicycles and scooters sampled the varied cuisine served by Miami Lakes restaurants during the Miami Lakes Culinary Bike Tour on the evening of Sept. 17.
Riders paid $30 per person to enjoy small bites during the 5-mile trip between shopping centers that took place over five hours.
The event, staged for the second year following a break due to COVID-19, was a joint effort between the Economic Development Committee, Cultural Affairs Committee and the Neighborhood Improvement Committee.
Members of Bike305, which promotes safe cycling, led the group through town with help from the Miami-Dade Police Department.
Town spokesperson Clarisell de Cardenas said the ride raised $5,130, which benefitted the restaurants that participated. Businesses made even more money through beverage sales.
This year’s participating restaurants were NQC; Domenico’s Italian Restaurant; Vicky Bakery; Dr. Limon Ceviche Bar; Diced; Cruzeiro Brazilian Steakhouse; Gaucho’s Gourmet Market; Acai Express; ML Steaks + Sports; Pizza Scene and Chela’s Beer Garden.
