Kimberly Trelles announced the winner of the inaugural Miami Lakes Local Lotto during the Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce’s Jan. 14 luncheon.
Tracey Gonzalez won the $500 prize that Mayor Josh Dieguez drew from a bag of entries.
From Nov. 7 through Jan. 7, residents and visitors had a chance to dine or shop from area businesses and restaurants and collect stamps that they saved on a card, just like a bingo game. Players who filled out their cards were entered in the drawing.
“We had 76 entries with at least one row completed,” said Trelles, owner of The Trelles Cottage boutique in town. “[Of the] boxes filled out, we had almost 1,000 boxes, which means it was almost 1,000 visits to these local businesses.”
Trelles said she had a customer from as far as Cutler Bay play the contest and visit the businesses that participated.
“A thousand stores visited,” Dieguez said. “A thousand stickers. That’s part of the tremendous im-pact the chamber has.”
