Weinstein & Cohen, a Miami Lakes headquartered law firm specializing in personal injury and wrongful death, announced that founding partner, Judson Cohen, has achieved board certification from The Florida Bar as a Civil Trial Specialist. This achievement represents the highest level attainable by the Florida Bar for special knowledge, skills, and proficiency in civil litigation and trial work.

Designed in the public’s interest to help identify lawyers that have achieved a high level of experience both in and out of the courtroom, Florida Bar Certified Lawyers have been rigorously evaluated for knowledge and competency. Only seven percent of the approximately 4,800 eligible Florida Bar members have earned board certification in one or more of the 26 specialty areas.
The rigorous process an attorney must undertake to become a Florida Bar Certified Trial Specialist includes documentation of at least five years of previous trial work, a peer review, submission of legal work for evaluation, meeting specific continuing legal education requirements, and a daylong written exam.

“It’s truly an honor to be distinguished as a Civil Trial Specialist by the Florida Bar,” said Cohen. “As an attorney, I pride myself on continuing to develop my skills, both in and out of the courtroom, in order to better advocate on behalf of our clients.”

A graduate of the University of Florida and the University of Miami School of Law, Cohen focuses his practice on personal injury, wrongful death and insurance claims litigation. He is licensed to practice in Florida and has been admitted to the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals for the United States Tax Court. Furthermore, Cohen is a member of the Florida Bar’s Committee on Judicial Administration.
