There’s a new training studio in town, and owners Miguel Molina and Edgar Macias say they offer a different approach to getting clients in shape.
The personal trainers’ center, called Movement Lab, is in the Cypress Village shopping center.
Molina, 27, is a lifelong Miami Laker and wanted to open the studio in his hometown.
“I knew this was the perfect place for the business,” Molina said.
Movement Lab opened in June.
The co-founders offer a personal evaluation of a client’s physique and design workouts while considering the customer’s level of fitness, body structure and lifestyle.
Services include one-on-one classes; training sessions in small groups; help with recovery from sports injuries and nutrition coaching.
“Each client means a lot to us,” Molina said. “They’re not just a number.”
Molina and Macias, 28, from Sunrise, said they have each worked as personal trainers for more than five years.
They said they created Movement Lab to offer an
intimate, personalized studio where clients can work toward their fitness goals while feeling comfortable.
The partners -- who said they have degrees in sports management from Florida
International University -- encourage clients to incorporate movement into their daily routines, even if it’s only just doing neck stretches while sitting at work.
Molina and Macias say they also encourage customers to continue living their lifestyles while making minor tweaks as they progress in their fitness plans.
They said they don’t like to put anyone on a diet; rather they tell clients, “control your health” which is the Movement Lab’s motto.
What the training center is not: exercise classes in large groups or a gym with rows of treadmills.
Sessions are booked an hour at a time through the Mind Body app.
One-on-one training costs $80 per session; classes with up to six people cost $32 per session.
Movement Lab is holding its grand opening on Oct. 24 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the studio, 7403 Miami Lakes Drive.
There will be a DJ, raffles for tickets to see the Miami Dolphins, Miami Heat and University of Miami Hurricanes as well as restaurant gift cards.
The studio is open Monday – Friday from 5 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. – noon.
