New MGM Academy holds open house and winter camp for special needs children

The newly opened MGM Academy, located at 14505 Commerce Way, Suite 450 in Miami Lakes, is a center designed for students with behavioral issues to help promote each child’s strength while providing professional guidance to overcome social, academic, family barriers, and maladaptive behaviors. The center also provides support groups for parents, grandparents and other relatives.  

The academy is holding an Open House Celebration on Saturday, December 17, from noon to 2 p.m. and welcomes all parents, children, families and community members to attend. Parents can take the opportunity to sign up for the academy’s winter camp while visiting the open house.

The center is offering a child winter camp from Tuesday, December 27 to Friday December 30 and Tuesday, January 3 to Friday, January 6. Camp hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the cost is $150 per week. Extended care is an additional $8 per day. Spaces are limited as there are only 10-12 children per classroom.  

Camp activities include arts and crafts, music, drama, yoga, art therapy, meditation techniques, exercise, movies, indoor playground, park and library visits, interactive reading and science activities. Field trips scheduled are for Miami Children’s Museum, Downtown Library, Miami Lakes Park and Michael’s Kids Club.
