Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School’s 22nd annual Children’s Fashion Show and luncheon, “An Evening in Morocco,” was a stylish fundraising success.
The show was held October 20 at the Doubletree Miami Airport Convention Center. It featured 130 student models, from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, and drew more than 600 guests.
The event is the largest fundraiser for the first half of the school year. Money raised goes towards the “Lend-a-Hand Scholarship Program” that provides tuition assistance to families in need and the educational needs of the school.
Students performed to a variety of music and dance choreographed by Teresita Miranda of Miranda Productions which showcased the students’ special talents. The MC for the evening was Roxanne Vargas, Entertainment host and reporter for NBC 6 South Florida.
School administrators expressed their appreciation to school staff and teachers, the ladies of the Fashion Show committee, and the backstage helpers.
The success of the fundraiser was due to commitments by sponsors lead by Grand Sponsor BLACC Boutique, Main Street and the Farah family.
Diamond sponsors included the Kunkel family, Simply Healthcare Plans, Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits, Tasco Plumbing Mechanical Services, and Urvan X Architects.
Clothes modeled by the students were provided by Macy’s Dadeland, Zayas Men’s Shop and Tuxedos, Zayas Quinceañeras, Step by Step, Ranee’s and Warm Hearts. Many businesses and individuals donated items for the event’s Chinese raffle and door prizes.
