Miami Lakes Public Safety Committee (PSC), in partnership with the Miami-Dade County Emergency Management Department, will be providing a Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.RT.) Training Certification course on three dates in September at Town Hall.
Classroom materials will be provided. Participants must attend all three days of training classes to become certified. The schedule:
Thursday, September 6, 5:30 to 9 p.m.
Saturday, September 8, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, September 9, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The three-day course will include basic training in the following:
• Be able to identify hazards that affect home, work places and neighborhoods.
• Work as a team to apply search and rescue techniques.
• Understand the function of CERTS and their role in immediate disaster response.
• Basic fire suppression strategies and fire safety measures.
• Management of resources in medical response operations.
Suggested training attire is sneakers, comfortable clothes, and bring a sweater or sweat jacket.
