That dreaded question – “What should we have for dinner?” – has become even more burdensome as families wait out the pandemic at home and don’t have the luxury of dropping into a favorite restaurant.
But several dining spots have come up with meal kits and specials to help ease that daily decision.
KFC has a “$20 Fill Up,” which includes eight pieces of chicken; a large serving of coleslaw; four biscuits and two large servings of mashed potatoes with gravy.
Palm Springs North resident Odaly Sanchoyerto recently ordered the Fill Up bucket for her family.
“It was quick and delicious,” Sanchoyerto said. “The kids ate the drums and the biscuits, and we shared the chicken breasts and mashed potatoes. We ended up switching the coleslaw for corn.”
KFC, at 15402 NW 77th Court in the Royal Oaks Plaza shopping center, is open for online orders and drive-thru pick-up.
Across Miami Lakes Drive is Einstein Bros. Bagels, which has created “Take and Make” pizza bagel kits.
A kit costs $9.99 and feeds up to six people.
It has ingredients for six pepperoni and six cheeses “pizzas” that can be assembled on bagel halves.
Store shift leader Antonio Issac said of the kits, “It’s pretty popular. Most people order them for lunch.”
Kits may be ordered on the Einstein Bros. Bagels app, through DoorDash or customers may call in an order for pick-up.
The restaurant is at 7970 NW 154 St. in the Park Centre Shops.
Salsa Fiesta on Main Street is offering a $45 family pack, which feeds up to five people.
Customers can choose 4 Original tacos, two
Mexicano burritos or two quesadillas.
Each pack also includes an urban bowl salad; three flautas; three beef taquitos and an order of chips and hot tamale.
“We started this after we found out about COVID-19,” said Smile Alejo, the general manger. “We wanted to help families.”
Salsa Fiesta, at 6769 Main St., is open for take-out and delivery through UberEats, Postmates and DoorDash.
