In November, R&L Schuck, CPAs celebrated its third anniversary of opening its Miami Lakes office and its expansion of services to a wider range of clients.
“Our mission is to provide professional accounting and finance services with excellence and care, understanding the clients concerns and establishing bonds of trust and respect that will endure. Three years is a small milestone and we look forward to many more,” said Rafael J. Schuck, the firm’s managing partner.
R&L Schuck CPAs was founded by Rafael and Leonor Schuck in 2006 to provide accounting and consulting services to business organizations in South Florida under the name of R&L Group, CPA. As the economic landscape changed, the partners looked for ways to increase the firm’s offering. On November, 14 2014, it acquired the client portfolio of a Miami Lakes based Certified Public Accounting firm which traced its origins back to the 1980’s, starting a new era.
“We are very happy with our decision,” said Rafael. “Buying an existing firm seemed a risky move at the time, but we were confident that with our dedication to excellent service, we would succeed.
Rafael is a graduate of Bentley University and Florida International University and a Certified Public Accountant since 1985. He started his career with the “Big 4” CPA firms, Ernst & Young and Price Waterhouse-Coopers. Throughout his career he has worked for private organizations in various capacities including CFO. His experience in private and public accounting allows him to understand businesses of all sizes.
Leonor is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico and a Certified Public Accountant since 1982. She started her career with Ernst & Young where she served in a variety of capacities, ranging from staff accountant to Senior Manager. She has served as CFO of several companies in South Florida. Working closely with business owners, she understands their day-to-day challenges.
It was announced that Giovanna Bertran-Schuck, CICA has joined the firm as an accounting supervisor. Bertran-Schuck adds depth and experience to the firm, having spent over 15 years in public accounting, and the last three years with Castro & Company in Alexandria, Virginia, where Bertran-Schuck assisted clients identify issues to improve operating efficiency.
Bertran-Schuck will be responsible for assisting clients with tax compliance and accounting needs. Additionally, she will also be responsible for attests and control consulting engagements that evaluate corporate management and operating practices.
She said “I am excited to start a new challenge within R&L Schuck CPAs and look forward to working with the team to deliver excellent service and assist clients with the challenges facing small businesses. I am fortunate to be joining such a respected CPA firm that prides itself on top quality service.”
