Seidy Andres opens Wet Dry blow dry bar on Main St.

Business By R.A. Romero, The Miami Laker staff Thursday, August 4, 2016

Seidy Andres is the entrepreneur she never expected she would be, and it started with a question: When will Miami Lakes open a blow dry bar on Main Street? Time passed but there were no signs of a blow dry bar for the Miami Lakes community. With a combination of supportive family and resourceful skills Andres ended up answering her own question with the creation of “Wet Dry” a blow dry bar and style house that now sits at 6813 Main Street.

Andres worked as a pharmaceutical representative before becoming a full-time mom to her daughter Kailey, 11, and her son, Jake, 5. The only first hand experience she had garnered regarding hair styling and makeup came from watching Youtube tutorials to braid her daughter’s hair. Andres eventually found herself making hobbies into business ideas and with the help of her co-owner and mother-in-law, Grisell Andres, Wet Dry had a grand opening on July 8.

Despite not having professional experience as a stylist, Andres’ passion for hair styling and makeup as well as her experience in salons and blow dry bars, cultivated a vision for what she hoped for in her own business.

“I knew from the beginning I didn’t want this to be necessarily a ‘blow dry bar’ because there are many blow dry bars in Miami and they’re mostly all the same,” said Andres. “I wanted to set us apart by focusing on making this a style house. The atmosphere is different, and so much of what I had in mind for Wet Dry ended up being made from scratch.”

Andres’ husband, Alex, and her father-in-law own a company called Anisenn Inc. General Contractors, and because Andres’ vision for her business ambience and space was so unlike what was commercially available almost every item from chairs to decorations were drawn up and built specifically for Wet Dry. The result is a style house unlike any other. Upon entering clients are met with a wall of knick knacks, each one lovingly picked by Andres herself to represent something meaningful in her life. On the shelves are baseball magazines to represent her son, her children’s initials, a small statue of a squirrel in reference to the many squirrels of Miami Lakes and many other trinkets.

Wet Dry offers blow drying styles like blowouts, sleek, waves, retro, pick-me-up and braids. In addition to hair styling, Wet Dry offers services in makeup, lashes, extensions and treatments.
