The newly renovated Shula’s Steak 2 on Main Street celebrated a grand reopening on April 5 with the special appearance of Coach Don Shula. The winningest coach in NFL history was interviewed by one of Florida’s most familiar voices, sportscaster Joe Rose, for WQAM 560 Sports Radio. The image of Coach Shula talking sports with Rose hearkens back to a time when Shula’s Steak 2 hosted radio shows and had football greats walking through its doors.
Shula posed for photos with about 400 fans wearing their Dolphin jerseys who eagerly lined up to meet the legend who bears the name of the restaurant staple of Miami Lakes.
“Thank you to our loyal Miami Lakes customers who turned out to enjoy the successful relaunch of Shula’s Steak 2,” said Shula’s Steal 2 general manager Bruce Lawrence.
The night went off without a hitch and was buzzing with excitement as Coach Shula sat next to an exact replica of his Superbowl trophy and met with Senator Bob Graham who stopped by for the celebration.
The restaurant went through major changes to completely transform the look and feel of Steak 2. A new design, layout, bar and brand new menu appeal to a whole new generation and the installation of nearly 40 hi-definition TV’s set to various sports channels makes any sports fan feel at home.
Steak 2 is open seven days a week, 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and open for breakfast on weekdays at 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and on weekends from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Coach Shula’s 347 career victories, making Shula the winningest coach in NFL history, is honored with a 3-4-7 Happy Hour on weekdays from 4 to 7 p.m. where various menu items, both food and drinks, are offered at $3, $4, and $7.
