Never had Persian food? Unsure on where to even start on the menu?
Christian Owens has a suggestion. Come in once and give it a try.
“Once they try it,” he said, “they’re hooked.”
Christian and other staffers look out for newbies perusing the menu screens near the counter. Someone inevitably comes out to help and make a few suggestions.
Joojeh - marinaded chicken - comes as a large plate, small plate or wrap, depending on appetite. So does koobideh - ground beef and lamb. Salads and aromatic rices balance out a plate.
It might not look like health food, but Owens suggests looking closer. Persian cooking is clean.
“We’re big on health,” he said. “We don’t use any seed oils.” Their meat is also halal, which among other things means strict rules about additives. He says you feel the difference. “You don’t get tired or fatigued,” he says.
