The Butcher’s Cuisine steakhouse in Miami Lakes

Miami Lakers are enjoying a new restaurant at Park Centre Shops: The Butcher’s Cuisine, which opened in September and offers a meat-based menu with a Peruvian twist.

“I like barbecues, I like a good piece of meat,” Owner Nelson Pino said.

He said he searches far to find quality meat. The Butcher’s Cuisine is Pino’s third steakhouse.

With exposed brick lining the back wall, a long red banquette; sleek metal fixtures and cloth-covered tables, the restaurant is modern but still cozy.  The refined atmosphere is a change from the decor of the prior tenant at 8030 NW 154th St., La Traila BBQ.

It’s also a welcoming place for families and friends.

“A lot of people that go there know each other, they put the table together and share wine,” Pino said. “[It’s] really friendly.”

The menu will appeal to carnivores and their pescatarian friends, too. It includes a 32 oz. tomahawk steak ($118), a 10 oz. filet mignon; an 18 oz. Prime New York Strip ($51) and ribeye steak sandwich ($29). There is also lobster tail and ribeye steak ($82.54); pastas (lasagna, Fettuccini Alfredo and capellini Bolognese, $16 - $23); several ceviches; grilled octopus served over polenta ($22); snapper or Norwegian Salmon entrees ($34 - $46); a chicken parmesan sandwich and delicate goat cheese croquetas [fried cheese spread] with a dipping sauce ($13).

Desserts include crème brulee, banana split with ice cream tempura or chocolate cake with ice cream.

The Peruvian reference is from aji amarillo peppers that go into the creamy Huancaina sauce used in the snapper dish.

“We’ve got a little bit of everything,” Pino said.

Executive Lunch specials are offered from noon - 4 p.m. And there are extensive wine, sangria and beer offerings to go with it all.

Diners who like the meat menu may also buy items that the restaurant will cut and season for grilling at home.

“[It’s] stuff people like to barbecue at their house,” Pino said.

While the restaurant has become a meeting place for his neighbors, Pino also created it to have a good steakhouse that is close to home.

He lives on the west side of Miami Lakes and has orders delivered there and to his office.

“I don’t have to go far to eat something good,” Pino said. “I can eat at my own restaurant.”

Through the holidays the restaurant will offer a variety of specials for food and wine.

With fewer than 10 tables inside and out, reservations are recommended.

The Butcher’s Cuisine is open seven days for lunch and dinner and serves until 11 p.m. on weekends.
