The Main Street Players (MSP) presents the final weekend of Superior Donuts written by Tracy Letts and directed by Danny Nieves at the Main Street Playhouse, 6766 Main Street.. This talented cast of nine includes new and returning actors to MSP. Superior Donuts was recently recommended by The Carbonell Awards.
Superior Donuts is not just about donuts as the title suggests. There is much more to this comedy-drama about Arthur Przybyszewski, the donut shop owner and Franco Wicks, a young black man who is his only employee. Wicks has many ideas to make the shop prosper but Przybyszewski doesn’t like change or even expressing himself so much.
Despite their differences, ups and downs both characters realize that friendship is so important and that they need each other. Wicks helps Przybyszewski get out of his shell and explore in all aspects of his life, where Przybyszewski helps Wicks with some personal issues as well. There are so many different elements inside this donut shop, it is worth the watch!
Final performances for Superior Donuts are now through January 20 with shows on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for students, seniors and military personnel. Theatre League and Industry tickets are $20 with I.D. at the door. Tickets may be purchased in advance at www.mainstreetplayers.com, or at the door an hour before show time.
