‘Think BIG, SHOP Small,’ a Miami Lakes celebration to kick off the holiday season, will happen along Main Street on Saturday, Nov. 28.
It’s a twist on the decade-old Shop Local marketing campaign by American Express to promote local businesses.
A 2018 study by the company found that for every dollar spent at a local business, approximately 67 cents remains in the community.
And that can mean jobs for teens and adults, and boost the supply businesses that stock those merchants and restaurants.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the annual Festival of Lights that usually happens the first weekend after Thanksgiving will be modified this year.
The tradition of fun is still promised for the town’s central byway.
There will be sales in stores and outdoors, entertainment, cheerful holiday decorations, restaurant promotions and more, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Shoppers will be asked to follow social distancing guidelines.
