Thrive Psychological Services, LLC, co-owned and operated by Dr. Anabel Alvarez-Jimenez and Dr. Susana Blanco, has found a home in Miami Lakes at 6175 NW 153 Street, Suite 105.

Thrive Psychological Services provides culturally-sensitive individual, couples, family and group therapy in English and Spanish. Additionally, they provide psycho-educational, psychological, immigration, medical and hardship evaluation services with flexible hours to meet the needs of all they serve.

Alvarez-Jimenez and Blanco have been working together closely over three years at Carlos Albizu University as Director and Assistant Director of the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program. Alvarez-Jimenez earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Georgia State University and has extensive experience in academics and research. She specializes in individual, couples and family therapy.

Blanco earned her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from University of Miami and her doctoral degree from from University of Albany. While Blanco’s expertise lies in working with couples and families, she also has extensive experience in working with individuals and groups with varying mental health and wellness concerns including self-esteem issues, anxiety, grief, trauma, anger management and more.

“We both loved our work as academics but felt that it was time for us to return full-time to our roots as clinicians and further develop our private practice, jointly,” said Alvarez-Jimenez. “We know that together we make a very strong team and when we decided to leave academia to focus exclusively on clinical work in private practice, we instantly agreed that Miami Lakes is exactly where we both wanted to be.”

Blanco said “What is exciting about being in the Town of Miami Lakes is that we both grew up in this area. Even though we did not know each other before pursuing our doctorate degrees, everything over the last several years has lined up perfectly for us to expand our private practice here. When we left the greater Miami Lakes area to pursue our PhDs, we always envisioned coming back home and contributing to the individual and collective wellness of our community.”

Blanco will be joining the same community as her parents and brother, Teresita, Rick and Rick Jr. Blanco, owners of Rick’s Cabintree in the Windmill Gates shopping center.

“It feels wonderful to open a business right down the street from where I grew up playing soccer at the Miami Lakes Optimist Club, attended junior high school and from where my family works and lives,” said Blanco. “Doing work that my partner and I are both extremely committed to and passionate about, we are beyond humbled and excited to give back to the community that helped nurture, raise and inspire us to pursue our dreams. Now it is our turn to be that inspiration for others.”

With extensive combined experience in working with diverse populations presenting with varying concerns, Alvarez-Jimenez and Blanco are available to answer any questions about psychological services and how they may be able to help clients thrive toward a fulfilling life.
