About 460 Miami Lakes residents - senior citizens, disabled civilians and disabled veterans -- were eligible to participate the town’s Senior Citizen and Disability Relief Program.
Checks were mailed at the end of December.
The benefit is available to those on fixed incomes who fall under income limits set by Miami-Dade County or have physical or service-related challenges, the town said.
To qualify applicants must have a property that qualifies for a homestead exemption and the owner must be 65 or older.
Disabled individuals who are legally blind; have a total and permanent disability; are certified as quadriplegic, paraplegic, hemiplegic or rely on a wheelchair may apply.
Disabled veterans with a 10% or greater service-connected disability or are age 65 and older with combat-related disability may also qualify.
