Edwin Gonzalez, 56, of Hialeah, is one of the drivers of the Freebee electric vehicles in the Town of Miami Lakes.

Residents request the free drop-off and pick-up service via phone at 855-918-FREE (3733) or with an app.

The town provides the service to aid those who cannot drive and to reduce the number of vehicles on municipal roads.

Gonzalez is married to Angie Irizarry, 56, a homemaker.

They have two children, Omar Gonzalez, 28, a student at Miami Dade College and Karina Gonzalez, 26, who is enrolled at Florida International University.

Q: Where are you from, and what is your background?


A: I’m from Ponce, Puerto Rico. I moved to Miami in 2002. I was a computer programmer and disc jockey in Puerto Rico.

Q: What do you most like about Miami Lakes?


A: There are very nice people, especially my beautiful people who every day, I share with them a little time while we go on the Freebee. And also, Miami Lakes is a very pretty city.

Q: What do you dislike about the town?


A: Nothing yet.

Q: What are the responsibilities of working for Freebee, and what do you hope to accomplish?

A: My responsibility is to offer quality work and to hope that passengers are happy with the service that Freebee offers.

Q: What is your biggest accomplishment, whether in your personal life or career?

A: Keeping my family together and giving my best in the work I do.

Q: What would you rather be doing/do you have a fantasy career?


A: I hope to keep working from home when I retire.

Q: What are you reading or what podcasts are you listening to?


A: I watch and read news that deals with Bitcoin. It is one of my passions.

Q: What have you binge watched on TV?


A: I hardly watch television.

Q: Where did you last travel to on a vacation? A: Disney World. My family loves Disney World.
