The Public Safety Committee and the Neighborhood Improvement Committee teamed up on April 18 to present Back to Nature.
During the event at the Miami Lakes Farmer’s Market the volunteers helped residents shred sensitive documents to prevent identity theft, according to Public Safety Committee Chair Carlos Andres.
Residents could recycle electronics, lightbulbs and batteries as well as donate clothing, baby items and kitchen items to the Vietnam Veterans of America.
Miami-Dade County Solid Waste Management provided information on mosquito control and bulky waste pick up, among other county services.
Partners included The Florida Marketplace Group, which runs the market; The Shred Force who provided the document shredding; Vietnam Veterans of America and E-Scrap.
Andres also thanked student volunteers from Bob Graham Education Center.
