Barbara Goleman senior Gabriella Mestre accepted to Harvard University

Gabriella Mestre, a senior at Barbara Goleman Senior High School, applied to Harvard under restrictive early action and received her acceptance letter on December 13.
Mestre has taken 20 AP classes, every single AP offered by her school, as well as online dual enrollment classes in Business Law and World Literature. She is also a National AP Scholar and a National Hispanic Scholar, along with receiving the Harvard book award and her AP Capstone diploma.
Mestre is currently a semi-finalist for the Coca-Cola scholarship, the Gates scholarship and the Elks scholarship out of 100,000 applicants that applied for each. She is the president of her school’s Mu Alpha Theta and she volunteers with deaf and intellectually disabled youth as a part of Hope for Miami. There she learned the basics of American Sign Language as was able to work with deaf youth.
Mestre also organized and founded a collection drive for the homeless called “Teens against Homelessness” where she collected over 2,000 health and hygiene items for Camillus House. She has also participated in National Honor society, Student Government, a competitive varsity dance team and worked tutoring students in mathematics.
