The Best Buddies Bobcat Chapter at Bob Graham Education Center is off to a great start in the new school year as members gathered at a breakfast in October to enjoy new friends and facilitate a toy drive for Miami-Dade County Public Schools Special Education Conference (GIFT Conference).
The Bobcat Chapter feels it is a natural fit to support this conference because according to Best Buddies International, the organization is “dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.”
Pairing together the Best Buddies and the GIFT Conference community service project, the Best Buddies are making new friends and, at the same time, serving their community. All community members are invited to attend the GIFT (Gallery of Information for Families and Teachers) Conference, a free, multilingual conference showcasing ideas, resources and support available to students, families, teachers and other professionals who are involved with, or interested in, special education.
The GIFT Conference is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, at Coral Gables Senior High School. Registration is required at http://mbcurl.me/A5X2.
