At the end of the 2016 holiday season, Miami-Dade’s Department of Social Waste Management collected used Christmas trees at several of the Trash and Recycling Center locations.
Those used trees have since been mulched and now that mulch is being made available to county residents free of charge.
Residents need to bring their own bags or containers and the mulch is available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.
For Miami Lakes area residents, the mulch is available at the North Dade Landfill, 21500 N.W. 47 Avenue, which is open daily from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
