June 7 Make Sandbags. Kids ages 12 to 17 can sign up to fill sandbags used to prevent flooding and earn community service hours. Volunteers should wear sneakers, a hat and sunblock and bring water. Royal Oaks Park, 16500 NW 87th Ave. 9 a.m. to noon. 

June 7 - June 23 “No Cojas Lucha” at the Main Street Players Join the Main Street Players for the third show of the season and annual Spanish language performance “No Cojas Lucha” [“Don’t pick a fight”] by Sonia Cordoves. The show follows a family going through the marriage of their daughter toa Gringo” (an American who doesn’t speak Spanish). Set in Hialeah. The show is performed in Spanish. 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Main Street Players, 6812 Main St. Tickets can be purchased at www.mainstreetplayers.com.

June 8 Miami Lakes Farmers Market Stroll along New Barn Road and enjoy a variety of vendors at the weekly farmer’s market hosted by The Florida Marketplace Group. At the corner of Main Street and New Barn Road. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free. 

June 8 Movies for All The Special Needs Advisory Board will host a movie for all at CMX Cinemas Miami Lakes 13 with a screening of “The Garfield Movie.” Registration is required to attend. CMX Cinemas Miami Lakes 13, 6711 Main St. Free. 10 a.m.

June 15 CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER Father’s Day Fishing Tournament on the north bank of Graham Dairy Lake Live bait for the first 30 anglers who arrive. Bring your own gear, equipment (e.g., poles, lines, hooks, etc.) will not be provided. 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. Free. Park at 8100 Governors Square Blvd., Miami Lakes, FL 33016.  Sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Committee and Law Office of Joshua J. Hertz, P.A. and The Morera Law Group, P.A. Group size for each registrant is limited to three people. Anglers ages 16 – 64 must submit a valid freshwater fishing license to pastoraa@miamilakes-fl.gov. DATE CHANGE June 19 Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce Inaugural Golf Tournament To benefit local charities and scholarships. 7 a.m.check-in, $175 per player, $700 per foursome. There will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.; DJ; and awards lunch. Miami Lakes Golf Club, 7601 Miami Lakes Drive. 786-663-5448. www.miamilakeschamber.com. Originally scheduled for June 13, the tournament was moved forward a week because of the rainy weather.
