April 21 – May 14 “Sweat,” a Pulitzer Prize-winning drama by Lynn Nottage at the Main Street Players. A story about a group of factory workers who meet regularly at a bar in Reading, Pa. Directed by Sefanja Richard Galon. Main Street Playhouse, 6812 Main St. Curtain is at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays. May 6 Zonta Club of Miami Lakes Kentucky Derby Casino Gala Dinner, gambling and dancing at Miami Lakes Hotel on Main, 6842 Main St., 6 p.m. – 11 p.m. Tickets: $125, to benefit college scholarships and women’s charities. WWW.ZontaMiamiLakesClub.org.

May 10 Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon. The guest speaker is Daisy Gonzalez-Diego, founder of DGD Communications. May 13 Paint a Picture for Mom. Children can create art for mom or any influential woman in their lives. At the Miami Lakes Farmer’s Market, in partnership with the Cultural Affairs Committee. May 16 Teen Open Hang. Kids ages 12 - 15 can experience this monthly hang at The Spot. Visit friends, play games and enjoy refreshments. Miami Lakes Youth Center, 6075 Miami Lakes Drive. 6 p.m. Free.

May 20 Gigi Fit Acceptance Challenge 5K Fun Run, 1 mile Walk and Kids Dash. McDonald Park, 7505 W. 12th Ave., Hialeah. 8 a.m. Register at www.gigisplayhouse.org/miami by May 4 to receive a T-shirt.
