Jan. 18 Youth Open Hang at The Spot. Kick off the new year with friends at the Miami Lakes Youth Center’s monthly hang out. Kids ages 8-to-11 can enjoy food and games. Miami Lakes Youth Center, 6075 Miami Lakes Drive. 5:30 p.m. Free. 

Jan. 18 Walk-thru Miami Lakes Optimist Park with Town staff. Sunshine meeting at 6411 NW 162nd St. 11 a.m. Free.

Jan. 19 Blasting Advisory Board with mining industry executives. The public is invited to join the Blasting Advisory Board for a discussion about the mining industry. Miami Lakes Town Hall, 6601 Main St. 7 p.m. Free. 

Jan. 21 E-Sports Tournament at the Spot. Bring a Nintendo Switch controller to play Super Smash Bros. Kids ages 11- to-16 can compete in this video game tournament. Players must register and confirm via email two days before to be entered into the bracket. Miami Lakes Youth Center, 6075 Miami Lakes Drive. 10 a.m. Free. 

Jan. 25 Senior Bingo Luncheon. The Elderly Affairs Committee will gather for its monthly Bingo luncheon for seniors ages 60+. Enjoy lunch, prizes and a great time during this popular event. Roberto Alonso Community Center, 16500 NW 87 Ave. 11 a.m. Free. 

Jan. 25 First Responders Cancer Awareness Night. Speakers and resources available. Town Hall, 6601 Main St., 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Free.

Jan. 26 Youth Council meeting. The Miami Lakes Youth Council will hold its first quarterly meeting at The Spot. Those interested can fill out a form to join the council. To learn more visit Town of Miami Lakes Youth Center, 6075 Miami Lakes Drive. 6 p.m. Free. 

Jan. 26 Special Needs Advisory Board Behavior Workshop. Join the Special Needs Advisory Board to meet with professionals who serve the special needs community. Miami Lakes Town Hall, 6601 Main St. 6:30 p.m. Free. 

Jan. 27 Movies at the Park. Join the Youth Activities Task Force for its Movies at the Park presentation. This month’s animated musical comedy is “Vivo.” In addition to the film, kids and their families can enjoy snacks and raffles. Veterans Park, 15151 NW 82nd Ave.  7 p.m. Free. 

Jan. 28 Skate Miami Lakes. Join Skate Miami Lakes at Veterans Park to test out your skills on a mobile skate park. Instructors will be on hand to help kids ages 8-to-16 sharpen their skills. The event is open to all levels of skateboarders, scooters, rollerblades and roller skaters. Bring your own equipment and safety gear. Veterans Park, 15151 NW 82nd Ave. 10 a.m. Free.
